First started off as a private practice, Datuk Dr Yap Hong Keong set up his clinic, "KLINIK YAP in 2001 in northern Johor. During his years of service, he noticed the increasing demands of patients with troubled skin such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, sensitive skin and pigmentation, just to name a few. There was also a lack of experts to fulfil the growing market's demand for dermatological treatments. Although most of Datuk Dr Yap's patients might have certain treatments for functional reasons, aesthetics drives most of the demand today. The era of internet, globalization and popularity of selfie further fuelled the need to look camera-ready at all times. To meet this increasing market demand, Datuk Dr Yap pursued a Diploma in Dermatology from University of Cardiff, United Kingdom and trained in hospitals in United Kingdom and Hong Kong after graduation. Furthermore, his experience, knowledge and expertise have carned him a seat as a certified board member of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM).
As Datuk Dr Yap pursued further in aesthetics, he realized the potential of the modern cutting-edge technologies in aesthetic medicine to treat various skin problems and at the same time provide effective and noticeable results. Fulfilling the increasing demand of non-surgical forms of cosmetic treatments, Datuk Dr Yap invested in the P-Nain Intense Pulse Light to effectively eliminate acne inflammation, prevent re-occurrence of severe acne and promote skin rejuvenation. Greatly impressed by the industry's fast-evolving technology, Datuk Dr Yap invested in the CO2 Laser, used for skin resurfacing to eliminate acne scars to reveal softer, smoother skin. Next, he moved on to Q-switched Nd:YAG to reduce pigmentation, the solution to many patients who desire fairer and even skin tone. With burning passion and an eye for detail for beauty, Datuk Dr Yap delved into the field and expanded his practice to include various facial aesthetic treatments from reducing wrinkles and fine lines to skin toning and lifting, and enhancing the nose, lips and chin in minimally-invasive ways. On par with the changing trends in aesthetics, he offers Korean-inspired blepharoplasty and face lift using innovative threads Datuk Dr Yap also explored the use of Platelet Rich Plasma. In addition to treating joint pain, this anti-ageing therapy can be used to treat the face, neck and scalp to strengthen the existing collagen formation and promote the proliferation of growth factors. This treatment gives such encouraging outcome, resulting in it being one of the most used methods for face rejuvenation.
Datuk Dr Yap continues to keep abreast with the new advancement of technologies in the field by attending numerous study trips to Korea, one of the world's most exciting and fast-paced beauty markets. During these trips, Datuk Dr Yap met a number of global counterparts where they shared experiences and knowledge, and studied the mechanism of the machinery as well as discussed on how to integrate these revolutionary technologies into aesthetic medicine. Besides attending training from local medical instructors, Datuk Dr Yap trains abroad from time to time, enhancing his skills from various experts in United Kingdom, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippine, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea.
Datuk Dr Yap found that the core of aesthetic medicine is to experience subtle change, improving the appearance in a gradual manner, so much so that others will notice your changes but no one will know how you did it! That's what he means for holding back the years......
The year 2015 brings another excitement to Datuk Dr Yap's practice as he expanded his service to Malacca and established "Yap's Clinic" armed with a new aspiration to benefit more people with his expertise by providing customized aesthetics, and skin solutions and treatments.
